It's no time to panic says boss after historic defeat

For the first time in their long history, Wolves have now lost their opening four games of a league campaign.

In truth, after going behind to debut boy Nick Woltemade’s first-half header, the Old Gold never looked like getting back into the game.

Yet they had made a bright start. The game was just seconds old when Rodrigo Gomes’ effort was pushed behind by Toon goalkeeper Nick Pope. From the resulting corner, Hwang's half-volley forced Pope into a fine stop.

It gave the travelling support way up in the gods real encouragement - to the point of enquiring as to the whereabouts of the Geordies’ “famous atmosphere”.

Wolves certainly caused the Magpies problems with their pace in behind, before the hosts took the lead. Gomes fired wide from close range while Newcastle needed Fabian Schar to make a last-ditch tackle to prevent Tolu Arokodare from tapping home at the back post on his debut.

Pereira said: “If I have time with this team, for sure I will increase the level of this team. I proved last season that I can improve the level of the team, me and my staff, and I will do it again.
