It looked like a long shot at start of season, but Villa are now aiming high...

VILLAS remarkable run of results continued on Sunday as they claimed their llth win in 13 matches, beating Wolves 1-0 at Villa Park.
Boubacar Kamara’s moment of quality ultimately separated the two sides, as he struck from outside the box to find the top corner with his weaker left foot.
Wolves thought they had taken the lead early on when Jorgen Strand Larsen beat Emi Martinez, but the goalkeeper’s view was blocked by Jhon Arias.
Martinez also made an excellent save to deny Yerson Mosquera before halftime, while Pau Torres made a crucial intervention to stop Strand Larsen at the back post in the second half.
Here are the talking points...
Sustainable or unsustainable?
After Kamara’s stunner at the Holte End, nine of Villa's 16 Premier League goals this season have been scored from outside the box - the most of any side in 2025-26.
Villa are, in fact, the only team in Premier League history to score more than half of their goals from range in a single campaign (56 per cent).
Two of those nine goals have come from free-kicks, scored by Emi Buendia and Morgan Rogers, with the latter grabbing all three points against Leeds United.
Although Villa rank low for expected goals this season, they have consistently found alternative ways to win. Their long-range scoring appears sustainable for now, even if historically it shouldn't be.
Emery, however, acknowledged that goalscoring remains an area for improvement - even if Villa's defensive solidity has strengthened considerably.
“We are working and analysing deeply everything” he said. “Of course, we spoke about it. Last year we needed goals. We lost out on the top five with goals.
“T am always worried about something we need to improve. In our demands, we are trying to identify where we have been weak or where we can improve clearly, even when we are winning.
