HIDDEN from plain sight, a network of secret tunnels runs underneath our feet across Birmingham city centre.

These hidden chambers have been left undisturbed, in some cases, for decades.

But Birmingham City FC's plan to create a new stadium tunnel has caused many to wonder if the tunnels could be brought back into use.

Tom Wagner announced the plan to build an underground tunnel from New Street station to the club’s planned new stadium in Bordesley Green.

The tunnel is part of his ‘dream’ to create a £3 billion sports mecca in the heart of deprived East Birmingham. He is due to meet government officials to ask for backing for the £20 million plan. The American hedge fund executive co-owns the club with NFL legend Tom Brady.
