Families left fuming at TUI delay 'shambles'

ANGRY families have told of a nightmare end to their holidays as their flight back to Birmingham was delayed for more than 24 hours.

Passengers spent several hours on the Tarmac on the Greek island of Kos on September 10, before they were told to disembark because the TUI plane could not leave.

The delays stretched into the next day, when passengers were told to return to the airport - but then faced another long wait. They finally took off at around midnight and arrived at Birmingham at 2am on Friday, a delay of 36 hours. TUI apologised and blamed a "technical issue" with the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner plane.

Passenger Sarah Brindle, 54, of Sutton Coldfield, said the flight was due to leave at 2.15pm on Wednesday but travellers boarded at 4.25pm.

She said: "For four hours we were stuck on the Tarmac. The last half an hour we were allowed half a cup of water.
