A 99th-MINUTE strike from Demarai Gray saved the day for Birmingham City against Sheffield Wednesday.

Dimmy delivers at the death to salvage point

Blues were on course for a first home league defeat under Chris Davies after an insipid performance before Gray struck at the death.

Jay Stansfield had given Blues the lead in the ninth minute before Jamal Lowe and George Brown turned the game on its head for cash-strapped Wednesday.

Gray denied them a second victory of the season and prevented Blues from falling to defeat at St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park for the first time in the league since April 2024.

For the first time this season, Blues scored a goal inside the opening 10 minutes of a Championship game and it was entirely down to the persistence of Stansfield.

Stansfield refused to give up on a loose ball and won a block tackle with Max Lowe on the edge of Wednesday's box before reacting rapidly to half-volley into the bottom corner.
