MANAGER Chris Davies isn’t expecting to be without Bright Osayi-Samuel for long, but the Nigerian full back wasn’t close to featuring for Blues in Friday night’s draw at Wrexham.

- By ALEX DICKEN

Osayi-Samuel injured his foot blocking a cross in the second half of Blues’ 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday last Tuesday.

With Ethan Laird also sidelined and Alfons Sampsted out of favour, Davies fielded midfielder Tomoki Iwata at right-back at the Racecourse Ground.

Iwata fared well on a night where Blues recovered from going a goal down to George Dobson's early header to seal a point through Patrick Roberts’ first for the club.

Asked about Osayi-Samuel’s condition, Davies said: “He wasn’t really close, he just couldn’t get over that knock he had.

“I don’t think we’re talking about something that’s going to keep him out for long but he wasn’t ready.”

Osayi-Samuel joins Laird, Willum Willumsson, Marvin Ducksch and long-term absentees Lee Buchanan and Scott Wright in the treatment room.
