Clubs were desperate to hijack Villa move - Amadou

AMADOU Onana has revealed he received calls from other clubs even after promising Villa he would sign for them.

The Belgian joined Villa from Everton in a club-record £50 million deal last summer, not long after representing his nation at the Euros.

His strong displays for the Red Devils impressed several rival clubs and although the midfielder did not reveal which teams were phoning him right up until he signed his contract with Villa, Manchester United were known to be one of those competing for his signature.

Onana explained why Villa was the “perfect” move for him.

“First of all, my circle is really honest with me,” he told The Inside Scoop podcast. “I don’t think a lot of footballers have a good chance to have good people around them.
