State, private sectors set to buy vast quantity of fruit

The public and private sectors are set to purchase more than 100,000 tonnes of fruit to support farmers throughout the harvest season, as the government works to increase exports.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra instructed the Commerce Ministry to collaborate with both government agencies and private businesses to purchase fruit directly from harvest areas.

The domestic fruit distribution comprises four main measures: supplying fruit for consumer distribution, fulfilling corporate social responsibility initiatives, providing for organisational consumption, and preparing meals for the Corrections Department.

Public and private organisations committed yesterday to purchasing a total of 103,760 tonnes of fruit.
