SSO faces new spending row

A fresh controversy has emerged over the Social Security Office’s (SSO) spending after documents revealed the procurement of 500 engraved pens worth nearly 240,000 baht using a specific-selection method.

The issue surfaced after Sahassawat Kumkong, a People’s Party election candidate, alleged that luxury pens bearing personalised names were distributed to senior officials, advisers and former high-ranking bureaucrats.

Procurement records show the contract was awarded to All Around the World Co Ltd for 238,075 baht, reflecting savings of just 0.80% against the budget at 240,000 baht, he said.
