SEC demands answers over crypto cyber-attack allegations

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has ordered all digital asset exchanges to publicly clarify reports of cyber-attacks amid viral social media claims, warning investors to rely exclusively on official information channels.

The action follows the circulation of an anonymous document online, particularly on a Facebook page called “The BIG Secret’, which claimed a major Thai exchange had suffered a cyber-attack resulting in the loss of multiple digital assets worth hundreds of millions of baht.

In a statement dated Sept 7, the SEC confirmed it is investigating the rumours and emphasised that all digital asset operators must respond transparently to the public. Investors were “reminded to follow only official announcements’.
