Premier plays down candidate rumours

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has played down academic commentary suggesting the inclusion of Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun on the Bhumjaithai (BJT) Party's list of prime-ministerial candidates could help attract working-age voters, saying the remarks he made earlier reflected his own thoughts and the party has not officially unveiled any candidates.

“Everything is fine, but we have not launched anything at all,” Mr Anutin told reporters. “Journalists asked, so I simply answered with my personal view. Anyone with ability, a proven track record and a genuine intention to work for the country is beneficial.”

He added that the party has not held any discussions with Ms Suphajee regarding the matter.
