Pornpawee Chochuwong booked her berth in the women’s singles quarterfinals of the US$950,000 BWF Japan Open in Tokyo yesterday.
The Thai seventh seed was joined by mixed doubles pair Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran in the last eight of the World Tour Super 750 event.
Pornpawee eased past Lin Hsiang-ti of Taiwan 21-9, 21-14 to set up a last-eight meeting with defending women’s singles champion and four-time winner Akane Yamaguchi.
The Japanese star defeated Sim Yu-Jin of South Korea 21-13, 21-15 yesterday.
