Oil prices likely to fluctuate as Middle East tensions flare

Global oil prices remain volatile to rapid changes in the Israel-Iran war, with the crude price surge losing momentum following US President Donald Trump announcing a ceasefire between the two countries.
Energy analysts previously projected oil prices could approach $100 a barrel if Iran decided to close the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation against attacks by Israel and the US. After Trump announced on June 23 that Israel and Iran agreed to an immediate ceasefire, oil prices fell, according to media reports.
Oil prices crept up after Israel launched air strikes on parts of Tehran on June 13, targeting areas that housed the operations of the state nuclear programme.
