New rule helping stateless people in force

A new regulation that will facilitate the granting of Thai citizenship to individuals born to stateless people residing in Thailand and members of ethnic minority groups who have lived in the country for a certain period has come into effect, according to an announcement in the Royal Gazette yesterday.
According to Deputy Interior Minister Theerarat Samrejvanich, the move is in line with a cabinet resolution that approved the criteria for fast-tracking the official recognition of stateless individuals who have lived in the country for a long period.
