Kyiv hit with 'massive' overnight assaults
Bangkok Post
|August 29, 2025
Russian forces launched a “massive” attack on Kyiv yesterday, hitting the Ukrainian capital with strikes that Killed at least 10 people and wounded around 30 others, Ukrainian officials said.
-
The attack came as Moscow and Kyiv traded blame over an impasse in diplomatic efforts towards a peace deal spearheaded by US President Donald Trump.
AFP journalists in Kyiv witnessed powerful explosions that illuminated the night sky and left behind a column of smoke.
The strike shows Moscow has no interest in “real diplomacy’, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said yesterday.
“Russia chooses ballistics instead of the negotiating table. It chooses to continue killing instead of ending the war,’ Mr Zelensky said on social media.
Ukraine expected a “reaction” from the world, including new sanctions, he added, specifically calling on Russia’s ally China and EU member Hungary to take strong stances.
