Govt funds boost for hormone therapy

The Public Health Ministry has approved an expansion of the universal healthcare scheme to include hormone therapy for transgender individuals.
A budget of 145.62 million baht has been allocated for this fiscal year to fund six types of gender-affirming hormone treatments. The move aims to enhance the safety and dignity of gender-diverse individuals across the country.
Deputy Public Health Ministry spokesman Jiraphong Songwatcharaporn, who serves on the sub-committee for the management of funds for the National Health Security Office's “30 baht healthcare for all” programme, said the decision to expand services responds to urgent needs within the transgender community.
