Search giant to also invest in upskilling
The new head of Google Thailand has unveiled a strategic blueprint centred on artificial intelligence (Al) integration, continued investment in its infrastructure and upskill programmes, and empowering small and mediumsized enterprises (SMEs) to become global exporters.
The moveis aiming for the next phase of growth in Thailand’s digital economy market, which was worth US$56 billion in 2025 and is set to expand to $90-160 billion by 2030 and persist during the subsequent anticipated expansion of Al.
“It is incredibly exciting to enter a market that boasts the second-largest digital economy in Southeast Asia, a rapidly growing video landscape, and strong pro-policy and pro-infrastructure investment,” Rafael Scislowski, country manager of Google Thailand, told the Bangkok Post.
Prior to taking up this position, Mr Scislowski was Industry Sales Lead at Google Vietnam.
From Google’s perspective, its focus is on supporting Thailand’s growth across clients, enterprises and infrastructure.
“Upskilling remains a priority: by year-end, we aim to train 250,000. We are also investing $1 billion in cloud development, including new data centres, regional expansion, and subsea cable projects to strengthen the digital backbone,’ Mr Scislowski said.
On the enterprise side, the tech giant is working closely with enterprises to help them scale and integrate Al into their products and services.
Thailand has strong technology infrastructure compared to much of Southeast Asia, but faces the challenge ofan ageing population.
To stay competitive, sustained investment in both workforce upskilling and infrastructure will be critical for longterm growth.
“The company will invest heavily in upskilling, with announcements forthcoming,’ Mr Scislowski added.
