Gaza ceasefire 'urgent' as situation deteriorates

>>GAZA: A senior UN World Food Programme official said the situation in the Gaza Strip is "worse than I've ever seen it before" with about 90,000 women and children suffering from malnutrition, and again called for a ceasefire.

Following his fourth trip to Gaza since the conflict began in 2023, WFP Deputy Executive Director Carl Skau said the needs of Palestinians have never been greater while the UN's ability to respond has never been more constrained. He said starvation is spreading, and one in three people going for days without eating.
"I don't know how to express that in clear enough terms, but the ceasefire is urgent," he told reporters on Friday.
