Police are investigating two firework-related incidents during New Year celebrations that left several people injured and led to a crackdown on illegal production sites.

Pol Col Pisit Meeviriyakul, chief of Khlong Tan police, said emergency responders were called to Soi Pridi Banomyong 26, off Sukhumvit 71 Road, in Watthana district at 10.44pm on New Year's Eve after a firework exploded. Seven people were injured. Four sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene, while three others were taken to hospital.
