ERC to review electricity tariff

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) will review electricity tariffs for May-August tomorrow amid surging liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices, given heightened Middle East tensions.

Worawit Srianantaraksa, a member of the ERC, said yesterday that the board will consider a new tariff structure following the sharp rise in LNG costs. The commission has outlined three scenarios for calculating the fuel tariff (Ft).
