EC acknowledges error in sample ballot for voters

Bangkok Post

The Election Commission (EC) has acknowledged an error in a sample referendum ballot distributed nationwide after former EC commissioner Somchai Srisutthiyakorn warned that the error could confuse voters.

- CHAIRITH YONPIAM

EC Secretary-General Sawaeng Boonmee said yesterday that the sample ballot in the referendum information booklet instructs voters to make "only one mark" but fails to specify that the mark must be an "X".

He admitted the omission could lead to misunderstanding and said the EC would step up public communication to clarify the correct voting method.
