Demolition of Aetas set to commence

BMA begins process after years of delay

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has taken its first concrete steps towards demolishing the long-controversial Aetas Ruamrudee building after more than a decade of delays and legal wrangling.

The Consumer Council said yesterday that the BMA has begun fencing off the building with temporary steel barriers, but permanent metal sheet fencing has yet to be erected, as funding approval is still pending.

The move marks the first visible progress since the Supreme Administrative Court issued its final ruling ordering the demolition in November 2025.
