Cyberattacks force 'Post' to curb platforms' access

Bangkok Post

|

July 29, 2025

The Bangkok Post has implemented temporary country-based access restrictions on its Facebook page and digital platforms in response to a wave of cyberattacks, in line with the government's warning over an intensifying information operation (IO) campaign linked to the Thai-Cambodian border conflict.

- POST REPORTERS

The Bangkok Post's website and Facebook page have come under coordinated IO attacks, involving inappropriate images and messages posted en masse in the comments section by fake accounts. These were followed by a series of distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks targeting both its Facebook and website platforms. Over two days, more than 250 million automated hits were registered, disrupting access to multiple pages and services.
