Ministry denies wedding attire talk
The Ministry of Culture has dismissed online rumours claiming that Cambodia plans to include elements of traditional Thai attire in its bid to have its wedding customs recognised by Unesco as intangible cultural heritage.
Prasop Riangngoen, the ministry's permanent secretary, said on Monday that the claims are baseless and unsupported by any evidence.
He confirmed that Thailand's own nomination, "Chud Thai: The Knowledge, Craftsmanship and Practices of the Thai National Costume," is officially scheduled for consideration by Unesco's Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2026.
