20-baht flat fare gets the nod

The cabinet yesterday approved a flat-rate fare of 20 baht for all eight electric train lines in Bangkok, with full implementation set for Oct 1, government spokesman Jirayu Houngsub said yesterday.
The policy, spearheaded by the Transport Ministry, is part of a broader government initiative to ease the cost of living by reducing public transport expenses and supporting energy cost relief. As a key priority of the administration, the fare cap aims to encourage greater use of public transport by making it more affordable.
