Saluting our unsung heroes from the world of sport were footballers Jack Butland, Billy Gilmour and Caroline Weir, rugby players Freya Walker and Ben Vellacott, basketball star Kieron Achara and curling champ Bruce Mouat.
The spectacular event also featured a performance by BGT finalist Vinnie McKee who belted out his emotional version of The Proclaimers hit I'm Gonna Be (500 miles).
