Ayr snatch 18-run victory at historic celebration

Prestwick CC rolled out the welcome mat for their 70th anniversary and then watched their derby rivals become party poopers.

Before a large crowd of former players and members, Ayr snatched an 18-run victory in a low scoring Henry Thow Oval nerve jangler with the result in the balance right to the end.

Prestwick looked to have done the hard work when they dismissed Ayr for 107 in 35.4 overs.

It looked like advantage hosts when dangerman Michael English was caught by Declan Botes off Tiann Kuhn for 23.

Ayr struggled to score against tight bowling from Sachin Chaudhary (4-14), Gurupreet Singh (3-29) and Inderjit Singh (2-22) but Brayden Riggs (15), Jake Woodhouse (13) and Ollie Jones (11) gave them a total to defend.
