South Ayrshire chaos rumbles on
The chaos surrounding South Ayrshire Council continued unabated this week, with the resignation of Chief Executive Mike Newall.
Councillors agreed on interim arrangements in the wake of his departure at the recent full council meeting, with the urgent item heard in private having been added to the agenda at short notice.
Outgoing Depute Chief Executive Lyndsay McRoberts will continue to oversee the council until she leaves to take up the position of Director of Education Resources at South Lanarkshire Council in August.
She took over the running of the council at the start of June following Mr Newall’s decision to temporarily step down as a result of secret recordings alleging breaches of procurement rules.
Former chief executive of Argyll and Bute and South Lanarkshire Council, Cleland Sneddon, will be tasked with steadying the South Ayrshire ship when he takes on the role of interim chief executive in August.
