Six Arrested for Threats, Extortion

Posed as CBI, ED officers on video call; extorted Rs 1.36cr accusing victim of having black money

A gang of six men, posing as government officers, cheated citizens by threatening them with a so-called 'digital arrest' and using fake documents during video calls to extort money. In one such case, a victim was conned out of Rs 1.36 crore. Following investigation and technical analysis, the Cyber Crime Branch arrested all six accused from different locations in Ahmedabad and surrounding areas.
