Owners of expensive lake-view homes face health hazards, forced to keep balconies locked

Residents of Makarba housing societies claim chemical-laden water was dumped into their adjoining lake on Tuesday. This incident has worsened already troubling issues of stagnant water, foul odours and mosquito breeding at site. Homeowners who shelled out crores for lake-view flats now keep their balconies locked. The unbearable stench and health risks have made these premium spaces unusable. The affected lake borders the heritage monument Sarkhej Roza, residential societies, corporate parks and schools.
