IMD Issues Orange Alert for 5 Districts, Yellow for A'bad

Heavy rain forecast in Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Dwarka and Rajkot; at 4.4 inches, Porbandar records highest rainfall in state over the past 24 hours

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for five districts in the Saurashtra-Kutch region — Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Dwarka and Rajkot — warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours. A yellow alert has been sounded for Ahmedabad and several other parts of Gujarat, predicting light thunderstorms, lightning and surface winds of 30-40 kmph.
