Irish going in the right direction - Rogerson

MATT Rogerson is confident that the wage upheaval which last week threatened London Irish’s match against Exeter yesterday will not halt the progress the club have made this decade

Players, coaches and staff at the Exiles did not receive their wages at the end of last month as a proposed takeover took longer than expected to resolve. As advice was sought over breach of contracts, current owner Mick Crossan stepped in and ensured everyone was paid.

“It was a strange week, not something we usually face,” said Rogerson, Irish’s captain. “The lads remained on task and prepped for Exeter like any other game. Everything has been moving in the right direction on the field since we were promoted from the Championship and that is down to everyone at the club.

“I hope this is a small blip on the journey and if things are sorted out quickly, I am confident we will keep moving forward in the same vein. We feel we are in a different position to Worcester and Wasps because we are going through an acquisition as opposed to looking down the barrel of financial issues.
