Henderson keeps Lancashire on road

LANCASHIRE got off to a winning start on the road at Upper Park, Birkenhead as they ran in eight tries to Cheshire’s three

Despite a spirited second half display, Cheshire were unable to break the Lancashire defensive back line and, as frustration set in, both side saw a spate of cards, with Cheshire down to 11 men just after the half time break.

Lancashire coach Mark Nelson said: “I was delighted with our first half performance, particularly with our defence and accuracy in attack. It is early days but the signs are promising for a really strong Lancashire cup campaign ahead.”

Nelson’s side took an early lead after two minutes, leaving their opponents wanting with a well worked move seeing hooker Ben Gregory over the line.

After the game settled in, Greogry was over again on the 20 minute mark from a well worked catch and drive.
