Codling's happy to keep faith with youth

ALEX Codling has given his young players exposure in the Premiership Cup and that trend will continue when the Falcons’ league campaign starts at Bath next weekend.
Newcastle welcome Caldy to Kingston Park today having won three of their four cup matches this season, including a home victory over Sale. But they conceded 60 points at Leicester last weekend after being overwhelmed in the first half.
“I have used a lot of players so far to see where we are at,” said Codling, who took over as head coach in the summer. “You can learn some harsh lessons and we were not at the races for the first 40 minutes at Leicester.
“I am not sure why, but expect a reaction against Caldy. It was a very experienced Leicester side, but if you do not have intent or energy the game will not lie. I was pleased we showed a lot of ticker in the second half and we know there will be challenges this season.
