The Villagers served up a piece of cup magic last Saturday by coming from two goals down to topple phoenix big guns Bury in front of a club record crowd of just under 1,000 at Mossie Park.

Luke Power’s dramatic 96th-minute winner took Richard into the first round qualifying for only the second time in their history – matching last year’s feat, which ended in a replay defeat to Pontefract Collieries.

Next up for the Villagers is a high-profile visit of Step 4 side Runcorn Linnets and Donnellan, who started with his home town club at the age of 15, says his players are determined to cling on for the ride.

“It was a memorable day for the football club and we’ve got the bug for more,” Donnellan told The NLP.
