Stadium headache for Heath

BROADBRIDGE Heath manager Chris Simmons admits the club are facing a hectic few months as they prepare for their first ever season at Step 4.

The Southern Combination League Premier Division champions will play in the Isthmian South East next term but, on and off the pitch, the Bears have plenty to do.

Four years after leaving their rented Sports Centre ground, with its running track around the pitch, Heath will play at the highest level they have ever competed at in their own Bodymould Mattresses Stadium but they know work is required to bring it up to scratch.

Asked whether his focus was on work on or off the pitch this summer, Simmons, right, said: "A little bit of both. We are a village club run by volunteers and all have to muck in.

"There are some quite big jumps for the next level. They want another 50 covered seats so we have to put another stand in or expand the one we’ve got.
