Zosia Mamet
Newsweek Europe
|September 19, 2025
IN HER FIRST COLLECTION OF ESSAYS, ZOSIA Mamet wants to know: Does This Make Me Funny? Her response to what inspired the book should say it all: she jokingly says she was “contractually obligated.”
All kidding aside, Mamet says: “I don’t necessarily think that funny people think or know they’re funny. I mean, I hoped certain things that I was writing would make people laugh. But it wasn’t my intention.” Whatever the intention, the laughs are there. But Mamet admits the process of writing was perhaps the hardest part. “When I was going through the editing process, having to reread my work and think about the things I was putting out into the world, that part was hard.”
