For the sake of their health and wellbeing, older people need to fight back against the pressure to downsize and declutter, argues Terry Carson.

It’s true, you can hear the murmuring in the provinces starting to swell into a roar. Old people have had enough. Soon they will be revolting. What is causing this uprising, this oiling of walking frames and the tuning of mobility scooters? It's the collective realisation of the grey and elderly that they have been brainwashed for years into believing that as a rite of passage into old age, we all should declutter and downsize. It now has an acronym: DED.
