The Dior Cruise 2024 Collection celebrates the emblematic figure of FRIDA KAHLO, paying tribute to her independent brand of femininity that frequently bent the conventional boundaries of gender.
Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior Creative Director, showcases the beauty of Mexican heritage alongside a respectful deconstruction of the personal style of legendary surrealist painter Frida Kahlo. A controversial icon in her lifetime, the influential artist’s works captured raw female experiences from childbirth to miscarriage. Finding artistic inspiration in her womanhood, Kahlo refused to be ruled by rigid gender norms and conventional beauty standards. The vibrant colours of her art and life are rebirthed through the recently held Dior Cruise 2024 show at Mexico City’s Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso, where Kahlo studied.
