ADVANCES IN MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY ARE RESULTING IN IMPROVED ORTHOPAEDIC SURGICAL TECHNIQUES AND BETTER OUTCOMES FOR PATIENTS.

According to an article published by Biochemistry Research International, “When the shape of the implantable medical devices is complex, it is often difficult to process and even unable to process. 3D printing technology can produce implantable medical devices with any complex shape, without having to consider processing problems, and solve the design and manufacturing problems of complex implantable medical devices.”

In addition to innovations in 3D printing production and materials, new software also is enabling medical device manufacturers to treat many orthopaedic problems. Implants and instruments fabricated on 3D printers are frequently used in joint replacements, foot and ankle disorders, maxillary surgery and cranioplasty reconstructions, among many other applications.

Michael Phipps, president of Hasbrouck Heights-based, Enhatch, noted that new software systems, “bridge the gap, for collaboration, efficiency and better communication centered around patient-specific services.”
