How will Singapore feel as an empty nester?

I moved to Singapore wide-eyed with an adventurous spirit.

Everything felt new, exciting and full of possibility. The first week here, when my son was seven and my daughter just three, we explored the city the way only newcomers do. We'd hop on the MRT with no real plan and discover water playgrounds perched on the rooftops of malls. The children were delighted, racing between fountains, while I marvelled that a shopping trip could double as a mini holiday.

Living in the East of the island felt like a dream. We couldn't believe we had the beach practically on our doorstep. Nearly every afternoon, we'd pack up towels, buckets and spades, and head down for a few hours. Watching the sunset, I couldn't believe I was living out my vision board.
