'We bought the worst house on the street'
Your Home
|August 2025
Inspired by her love of pastel colours, Rosalind Miller has used plenty of playful paint effects to create a home bursting with dopamine decor
-
Rosalind Miller knew this house would need a lot of love to transform it into a beautiful family home. 'Buying the worst house on the best street and not having to inherit other people's taste was a major selling point though, as were the quirky elements like the entrance door on the side and the angled wall in the living room,' she says. It took two years to start the reno but, as Rosalind explains, 'living in the space helped me get to know how we used the house.' Opening up the loft and extending the kitchen by digging down into the garden became the renovation plan, which meant applying for planning permission. 'But I loved the height and airiness of the rooms, especially as we'd moved from a dark, two-bedroom basement flat.'
KITCHEN
'I didn't like the idea of the oven and microwave being on display so I hid them in the oversized island, but I wanted to have the hob facing the seating area so that I can be part of the conversation when cooking,' says Rosalind.
