Inspired by those Scandi-style petal pendants but not the designer price tag? Here's how to make your own
-
Making a petal light shade is a challenging DIY project, but is well worth your exertions. Rome wasn't built in a day and this shade doesn't have to be either, so take your time.
1 Make a template from cardboard or paper was 35cm across and 50cm long. This is a personal preference depending on how big you want each petal to be and the overall size of the shade. Place fabric on a flat surface and trace around the template with a fabric pencil or chalk.
2 I cut out eight petals, laying the template in different directions each time so the fabric would stretch differently and make each petal unique. If you want a more uniform look, I suggest cutting them out while ensuring your template stays in the same direction each time. Fabric that does not have a natural stretch will also help.
