You see, we tend to romanticise going away for the holidays. The promise of newness, the sensory feast of somewhere other than home, the golden light on unfamiliar streets.

Yet often, a vacation can leave us more weary than when we began. The rush, the logistics, the endless packing and unpacking. A staycation, however, could be infinitely more restorative. The key is to approach it with the same reverence you would an actual trip away. It's all in the mindset.
