As Home Beautiful's 100th birthday celebrations come to an end this issue, it's high time I pay homage to a remarkable woman who has shaped my gardening journey in countless ways – the one and only Edna Walling. Hailing from the picturesque county of Devon in the UK, Edna didn't just dip her toes in horticulture; she dove in headfirst after studying at Burnley Horticultural College and emerged as one of Australia's most formidable landscape designers. Even 52 years after she left us, Edna is still treated like royalty in the gardening realm, and rightly so.
