AI, next-gen diagnostics offer new hope in India's cancer battle

HOSPITALS and pharma industry note that in India's battle against cancer, biomarkers, nextgen sequencing diagnostics and Al-based tools empower clinicians to identify risks earlier.

According to Dr Niti Raizada, principal director, medical oncology & haemato oncology, Fortis Hospital, India has to implement drastic measures for early diagnosis and treatment.

The first priority is to hold regular screenings and promote selfexamination. Cancer can be diagnosed early stage through mammograms, Pap smears, oral exams, and lowdose CT scans can help detect it at an early stage. Public education campaigns must reach schools, workplaces, and communities so that people recognize symptoms and take timely action.

On the occasion of the National Cancer Awareness Day observed annually on November 7, Dr Raizada said that the battle against cancer is still one of the greatest health issues in India.

Many people still hesitate to undergo screening due to fear, stigma, or lack of awareness.
