Deeply INTERTWINED

On the occasion of Cartier's iconic Trinity turning 100, artist and the Maison's ambassador, Jackson Wang not only attended a special celebratory event in Paris earlier this year, he stars in a Cartier Trinity centenary campaign alongside four other ambassadors of the house. Here, the star talks about the meaning that Trinity holds, his favourite piece from the collection, and what he thinks makes an icon

Hi Jackson! What do the three intertwined rings of Trinity represent to you?

I can stand by the meaning behind it. I really connect with it because it’s actually just the purpose of life. I have three keywords that I go by, like Trinity: love, trust, and principle.

What do you think makes a piece, like Trinity, withstand the test of time of a hundred years?

Love, friendship, faithfulness.

What memory does Trinity bring to mind?

I’ve always been a fan of Cartier vintage collections, and the relationship with Cartier started off casually, as friends — and slowly, I feel like I’m becoming a part of the big family. It ’s very precious to me.

What was it like working alongside this group of ambassadors for the making of the Trinity campaign? 

We started with work, but there’s an immediate connection with the Maison — it’s the people, that’s what’s most important to me. For the campaign, it feels like I’m coming back to visit my family members. Because family, that’s the strongest bond. That means more to me than work.

How do you celebrate love and diversity in your life?
