The subconscious plays a significant role when Jungle's Tom McFarland and Josh LloydT Watson come together to create music in the studio. So when McFarland tells me that hope and happiness were two of the primary emotions that flowed through them as they worked on their 2023 album Volcano, it all finally makes sense. With elements of soul, funk and an old-school feel-good charm to it, Volcano is starkly different from their previous records.
