FAREWELL PRINCE OF DARKENESS
YOU South Africa
|7 August 2025
MADCAP, unfiltered and electrifying - OZZY OSBOURNE will always be revered by heavy metal fans as the raucous lead singer of the band Black Sabbath.
-
Reality TV fans got to know and love him as the exasperated patriarch on the reality show The Osbournes.
And now those legions of supporters are mourning the loss of the eyelinered music legend after he passed away at 76 from Parkinson's disease.
Ozzy was diagnosed with a rare genetic form of the disease called PARK2, and even though Parkinson's is not fatal, it brings on complications which can lead to death.
Paramedics were called to the family's Buckinghamshire mansion following a medical emergency. A helicopter landed on the property but after working on the singer for more than two hours he was declared dead.
"It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning" his wife Sharon said in a statement with their three kids, Aimee (41), Kelly (40) and Jack (39), and Ozzy's son Louis (50). "He was with his family and surrounded by love"
BLACK SABBATH
The English band was formed in 1968 with Ozzy as lead vocalist, Toni lommi on guitar, Bill Ward as drummer and Geezer Butler as their bassist.
Their occult-themed music made waves and they were largely credited for creating heavy metal music, paving the way for bands like Metallica and AC/DC.
