On an August day last year, TV Times steps inside a Hertfordshire school that has been dramatically transformed into the chaotic corridors of a 1930s hospital, filled with supporting artists covered in bandages and sporting realistic-looking wounds.

We've been invited to watch filming for U& Drama's much-anticipated new series Outrageous. The six-parter explores the intrigue and scandal surrounding the real-life aristocratic six Mitford sisters - Nancy, Pamela, Diana, Unity, Jessica and Deborah - who all refused to play by society's rules.

As the cameras roll, a tense scene set in 1936 unfolds as novelist Nancy (played by Bridgerton star Bessie Carter) frantically searches for a friend who was attacked during a protest in London against the British Union of Fascists - whose leader, Oswald Mosley (Joshua Sasse), is about to marry Diana (The Control Room's Joanna Vanderham).
